New PCA-10 building to rise in El Salvador City

EL SALVADOR CITY, Misamis Oriental (PIA)– Another national agency will soon transfer its regional office in this city.

The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) -10 held a groundbreaking ceremony, July 8, for its P24-million three-storey building which will house its new regional office, Misamis Oriental Provincial Office, and the training center for the latest coconut technologies to be introduced to the coconut farmers/growers in Northern Mindanao.

Attending the said event were Architect Joel Enguito of the DEPAD Construction, provincial coconut managers, and outgoing and incoming regional managers.

PCA-10 incoming Regional Manager Manuel Octobre, who replaced Regional Manager Brendan P. Trasmonte, said “this groundbreaking of our regional office building and, at the same time Misamis Oriental Provincial Office and training center, is a dream we had that took us 47 years to realize. This activity we have today is very monumental to our morale considering that we were just renting for decades. It is a dream-come-true for our regional office.

Since the building will also serve as its training center, Octobre believed that PCA-10 would be able to provide the latest technologies on coconut farming in the region on top of its regulatory functions.

“In the past few years, we really pushed ourselves in gathering the documents just so we accomplish this. Hopefully, this will be our permanent residence and this will also be a training center for our coconut processing projects where we can train our coconut farmers for entrepreneurship and processing of our coconut products and by-products, which will be a big help to our coconut farmers and our coconut industry,” outgoing Regional Manager Trasmonte said.

The building construction is scheduled to be finished in May 2021. (VPSB/PIA10)
