CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)—Continuing the anti-illegal drug campaign of the national government, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-10 recorded 63.34 percent accomplishment or 1,199 out of 2,022 barangays in the region were cleared of illegal drugs.
The drug-cleared barangays included 9 barangays in Cagayan de Oro City, Iligan City (11), Misamis Oriental (178), Bukidnon (246), Lanao del Norte (305), Misamis Occidental (394), and Camiguin (56).
As of March 22, PDEA-10 has recorded 694 affected barangays and 111 unaffected barangays of the illegal drug menace.
To intensify the campaign, PDEA-10 also conducts lectures and seminars on preventive education and has already reached a total of 199,758 audience for both face-to-face and online activities.
There are also 21 jail facilities in the region, which have been declared as drug-free facilities.
For their part, the Philippine National Police (PNP)-10 facilitated the training of 35 officers of Resistance Education Against Drugs for the Youth (READY), and 11,178 youth who were trained for Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE).
Also, PNP-10 has recorded 112 anti-illegal drug police operations, March 1-22, where 133 persons were arrested and P3.5 million worth of shabu (516.724 g) was seized in the region.
To further aid the government in the fight against illegal drugs, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-10 facilitated the conduct of alternative learning of 101 drug dependents for February to March.
As of March 22, there are 104 drug dependent surrenderees who were able to complete their course from TESDA-10.
In ensuring that local government units (LGUs) will continuously aid in the campaign, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 will conduct the Anti-Drug Abuse Council Performance Audit and Awards for Audit Year 2019-2020 as well the program rollout for the provinces and highly urbanized cities, April 12-20.
