Northern Mindanao gets new shipment of COVID-19 vaccines

MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA)—Northern Mindanao’s Department of Health received, October 19, another large shipment of COVID-19 vaccines.

Officials from the Department of Health (DOH)-10 and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) received the 15,990 vials of Pfizer and 128,920 vials of Sinovac vaccines at the Laguindingan Airport.

Included in the shipment are Pfizer’s 5,070 vials pre-allocated for Cagayan de Oro City.

Dr. Jose R. Llacuna, Jr. DOH 10 regional director affirmed that in order to ensure fair allocation and prioritization of provinces to receive said vaccines, the national government has designated Pfizer’s 15,990 vials to the following provinces and cities in the region: Bukidnon-4,680 vials; Camiguin-195; Lanao del Norte-2,340; Misamis Occidental-1,560; Misamis Oriental-2,340; Iligan City-1,560; and the remaining 3,315 vials as a buffer stock of the region.

Llacuna likewise said the 128,920 vials of Sinovac are due for distribution to the following areas: Bukidnon-40,000 vials; Camiguin-2,720; Lanao del Norte-21,000; Misamis Occidental-18,000; Misamis Oriental-26,400; and Iligan City-20,800 vials.

With this development, DOH urges those who have not yet been vaccinated to go to the nearest vaccination sites and avail of the government’s free immunization program.

The health department also urges those who have already received the first dose to complete their two-dose vax, except those who got the single-dose Janssen vaccines, for greater protection against COVID-19. (JAKA/PIA-10)
