Nunungan town advances public infra dev’t

NUNUNGAN, Lanao del Norte(PIA)–After magnifying the drastic need for progress in the municipality here, the local government of Nunungan bolsters its locality through advancing development in its public infrastructures.

Municipal Mayor Marcos Mamay stressed during the Network Briefing News Wednesday, October 13, that constituents have been clamoring for change for quite long years as they have suffered enough and this compelled the local government to move for the desired betterment.

He admitted that the place has been known to be a mother municipality yet time made it far behind when it comes to development considering its poor access roads, no electrification, and unstable peace and order.

To address this, Mamay shared that his administration in collaboration with the provincial government commenced infrastructures projects by prioritizing the rehabilitation of road networks as these are deemed to be meant to reach out to the grassroots of the community.

This includes the P900 million-worth concreting of the national road from the municipality of Sapad to Nunungan down to Sultan Naga Dimaporo and as well as the road networking from Poblacion and Nunungan Lake.

“Ang pinaprioritize namin iyong connectivity at access roads [We are prioritizing the connectivity and access roads]. We believe that how can we provide subsidies and support, especially in far-flung areas and marginalized sectors, with livelihood programs if there is poor accessibility ng daan [of the road]? How can we provide quality education that even teachers cannot reach children?… Pinaprioritize natin ang access road para kahit papaano, mareach at marealize natin ang marginalized sector [We are prioritizing the access road so that in any way, we will reach and realize the marginalized sector],” said Mamay.

The municipal mayor also said that among those infrastructures that will rise in the municipality are the cultural center, municipal gymnasium, operation and evacuation center, hospital, multi-purpose building, and torogan.

Accordingly, the construction of the municipal gymnasium is funded by Senator Christopher Lawrence Go while he and Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri back the building of the multi-purpose building as Governor Imelda Quibranza – Dimaporo allocated P5 million for the foundation of Torogan.

The State of Kuwait will likewise apportion a budget for the establishment of 18 classrooms for tertiary schools that will cover learning for English and Arabic languages and a hospital amounting to P10 million.

On the part of the municipal government, Mamay bared that being a member of religious missionary, he is personally shelling out P20 million for the erection of Grand Mosque in the existence of separation of the church and the State.

With all these initiatives the municipal chief executive delivered his thanks to the provincial government for its unwavering support to his municipality while emphasizing to the public that infrastructure projects are necessary to bring in development.

“Maraming project ang naibigay ng provincial government natin that is why walang katapusan ang pasasalamat natin sa kanila. Walang magyayari kung wala sila… Itong projects na ito ay kailangan natin sa municipality natin kasi ang Nunungan ay far behind when it comes to development,” said Mamay.

[There are lots of projects given by our provincial government that is why we are endlessly giving thanks to them. Nothing would happen if it were not for them… These projects are really needed in the municipality because Nunungan is far behind when it comes to development.] (CRG/PIA-Lanao del Norte)
