OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental, Mar. 12 (PIA)–The city government here is going to suspend classes in all levels from Preschool to Tertiary Levels in both public and private schools effective Monday, March 16, 2020 as a precautionary measure against the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Mayor Lemuel Meyrick Acosta ordered the suspension in light of the “the growing number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the country.”
During the whole duration of the class suspension, students should stay at home and continue to review their lessons. Parents, Barangay Officials and police personnel are tasked to ensure the compliance of students with the order.
Acosta appealed to all parents and guardians not to allow their children to roam around in public places if their activities are non-essentials.
With this, all recognition and graduation ceremonies, public events and gatherings in Oroquieta City shall also be cancelled temporarily.
Acosta also reiterated that the most effective way to combat COVID 19 is for the community to work together and to educate the people on how to prevent COVID 19. (SMRN/PIA10)
