Oroquieta SK eyes negosyo project, tutorial services amid pandemic

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)—To boost youth participation in Oroquieta City amid the coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 pandemic, the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of Oroquieta will implement the negosyo project and provide tutorial services to learners.

During the Network Briefing News, October 12, SK Vice President Graciel Khen Ocaya said the SK Federation in Oroquieta organized a “Capital sa Negosyo” contest where the youth can submit their business proposal for possible funding.

“We distributed relief goods but our council noticed that this is not sustainable because we cannot just give goods all the time. We thought of youth projects that will help them in the long run,” Ocaya said.

Capital sa Negosyo is open for youth aged 15-30 years old in the city.

“With these business proposals, we will pick the top three winners and we will give a prize to whoever will win so they can start their own business,” Ocaya added.

Ocaya also shared the programs and projects in Poblacion 1, and SK Federation in Oroquieta City saying, “In our barangay, we have many ongoing programs. One is the provision of tutorial services to our youth. Modular learning is being used here because some houses are not reached by wi-fi, so assistance is needed because some parents are not capable of teaching,” Ocaya added.

SK Federation in Oroquieta City will also organize online tutorial services for the children since the classes have started and most of the students opted for modular learning.

Furthermore, Ocaya urged the youth to help the government and to disseminate the right information to combat COVID-19. (SMRN/PIA Misamis Occidental)
