Oroquieta steps up fight vs COVID 19

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)- “We can only win the war against Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) if we work as a community, no more no less.”

This was the gist of Mayor Lemuel Meyrick Acosta’s message in a recent press conference where he shared the plans the city would pursue in case an outbreak of COVID-19 occurs.

Acosta also highlighted the roles of barangay officials and barangay health workers in coordinating with the City Health  Office (CHO) in regard to the transfer of persons under investigation (PUIs) to accredited public hospital or referral centers.

“Everybody has to work together; everybody must do their share to fight the possible outbreak of COVID 19 in the city,” the mayor said.

With President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s declaration of public health emergency in the entire country, the city government immediately activated its coronavirus task force to monitor day-to-day updates.

The city also disinfected offices and terminals in a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Acosta sought public cooperation by continually practicing proper hygiene, social distancing, proper cough etiquette and adherence to DOH advisories and precautionary measures.

He also ordered the suspension of classes, public events and gatherings to prevent the spread of the said disease.

On the other hand, the mayor appealed to his constituents to avoid panic buying.

For his part, committee on peace and order, Councilor Jun Claros urged the people to refrain from believing and/or disseminating fake news about COVID-19. (SMRN/PIA10)
