OWWA XI to provide financial assistance to earthquake victims

In line with the Welfare Assistance Program (WAP) of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the Regional Welfare Office XI will provide financial assistance to the earthquake victims that struck areas of Davao del Sur on October 16, 29, and 31, 2019.
Welfare Assistance Program (WAP) is a financial assistance to OWWA members, active or inactive, who are affected by the occurrence of disasters/calamities, natural or man-made ultimately tragic death of the OFWs, and other analogous causes.


OWWA-RWO XI started to receive applications from the municipalities of Bansalan, Digos, Hagonoy, Magsaysay and Matana, Davao del Sur. The region received a total of 3,046 applications. Of this number, 246 applicants from the municipality of Matanao has received the financial assistance with a total amount of P447,000.00 on December 18, 2019.

Today, the OWWA XI calamity assistance team is currently releasing the financial assistance to the earthquake victims of Magsaysay, Davao del Sur. A total of 810 applicants are expected to receive the financial assistance in the said municipality.

Eligible beneficiaries of the program are the OFWs or their qualified beneficiaries. Active OWWA member will receive a cash relief assistance amounting to Three Thousand Pesos (P3,000.00) while inactive OWWA member will receive One Thousand Five Hundred Pesos (P1,500.00) in cash.
