OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)–The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) and City Engineer’s Office here conducted visual inspection of the flooded areas in the city, November 16.
With the identification of the area, they were able to clear the water flow’s obstructions and fast track the clearing of the waterways and canals.
Mayor Sancho Fernando Oaminal said one of the causes of the blockage of the drainage systems is the improper disposal of garbage into the canals.
“Despite the damage, we are thankful that everyone is safe and secured. Let us all continue to pray that these situations will not happen again,” Oaminal said.
He further reminded the Ozamiznons to responsibly throw their trash to avoid clogging of canals.
“I am confident that with the targeted completion of the City drainage development project late next year, and with the cooperation of all Ozamiznons in keeping Ozamiz clean, our City will be more resilient to typhoons and heavy downpours in the future,” he added.
The mayor ordered the use of the personal equipment and trucks to assist those who are working in the operations of the city. (LGU Ozamiz/PIA Misamis Occidental)
