Ozamiz City holds Kasalan ng Bayan 4.0 amid pandemic

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)–As part of the 73rd Charter Anniversary celebration of the city, the Local Government of Ozamiz held the ‘Kasalan ng Bayan 4.0’ or free mass wedding event at Ozamiz City National High School Mini Gym, July 16.

This is the fourth mass wedding solemnized by Mayor Sancho Fernando “Ando” Oaminal involving 296 couples of various ages in Ozamiz City. Each couple received wedding cake, giveaways, P1,000 gift check, P10,000 cash from the city government and P5,000 cash from Second Rep. Henry Oaminal.

“Kamo magkahiusa ug kung unsa man gani ang mga challenges, mga kalisod, mga problema nga muabot sa inyong kinabuhi dili man gyud na mawala naay panag-away, paglalis ug aduna’y sitwasyon nga lain-lain ang inyong opinion, hunahuna pero hinumdumi ninyo nga karong adlawa inyong i-commit ang inyong kaugalingon sa inyong partner and whatever happens always remember that you can always do more together than separately,” Oaminal said.

(You must work together no matter what challenges, difficulties, problems that you will encounter in your life. You will fight, argue and there are situations where you will have different opinions, but remember that today, you committed yourself to your partner and whatever happens, always remember that you can always do more together than separately)

Meanwhile, Second District Rep. Henry Oaminal said the exchange of vows legitimizes the union of couples who have been living together for years and have children.

”Make your relationship not useless, make your love endless not useless, ang inyong panaghigugmaay labi na karon nga krisis, nga kamo legal na kinahanglan nga wala’y katapusan ika nga (your love especially this pandemic, is what you legally neededto be together) until death do us part,” the representative added.

Rep. Oaminal also said the official marriage of the parents would greatly benefit their children.

One of the couples who were wed, July 16, was Felipe Peja, 44, and Kim Peja thanked the city government for providing a free wedding and assistance for their family.

As of date, the Asenso Ozamiz led by Mayor Oaminal legitimized the union of more than 600 couples already since the start of his administration.

The ‘Kasalan ng Bayan,’ is an annual activity of the city government offered to the less privileged unwed couples who are residents of the city to receive the matrimony of marriage. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
