Ozamiz records 1 APOR COVID-19 case

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)—One authorized person outside residence (APOR) tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 in Ozamiz City.


The COVID-19 positive arrived July 4 in Purok 4, Barangay Banadero with complete documents including a medical certificate, travel pass, and travel authority. After five days, the patient manifested symptoms and has immediately consulted a doctor in the city.


The doctor recommended rapid testing and the patient directly went to Faith Hospital to undergo rapid testing where he tested positive. He was then swabbed and through reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing, the patient yielded positive result, July 17. 


The patient is now isolated at Doña Maria D. Tan Memorial Hospital, Tangub City.  The family and neighbours are currently undergoing rapid testing. 


The local government unit is currently conducting the contact tracing of the persons whom the patients had close encounters.


 The Philippine National Police (PNP) and city health personnel have also tightened security measures in their barangay.


Ozamiz City Mayor Sancho Fernando Oaminal urged Ozamiznons to be vigilant, to maintain strict health protocols such as social distancing and wearing of face masks, and to stay at home.


“Simple lang amoang hangyo sa mga Ozamiznons, ihatag lang sa amo ang inyong kooperasyon and we will do our best (We simply ask Ozamiznons to cooperate and we will do our best),” Oaminal said.
