Ozamiz SK gives learning mats, masks amid pandemic

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)–To counter the adverse effects of coronavirus disease (COVID)-19, the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK)in Ozamiz City distributed learning materials as well as face masks and face shields to the youth in the area.  has strategies programs and activities since the implementation of the Community Quarantine.

“The federation gave hygiene kits, especially face masks and face shields. We also distributed hygiene kits to the frontliners of the different barangays in Ozamiz City,” Ozamiz City SK Federation President Erwin Ochavillo said during the CORDS-X Podcast with Communications Sec. and Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security (CORDS)-X Martin Andanar, February 27. 

Ochavillo said the SK Chairperson in the city came up with programs to help the students in their online class. 

“We all know that COVID-19 has negative impacts on the students thus, the SK barangay in Ozamiz distributed learning materials and provided a learning center that will be used by the students for free,” he added.

The SK Federation also wanted to come up with strategies on how they would be able to help the COVID-19 affected youth and sectors particularly in the barangays.

He said they coordinated with the different barangays and the latter helped the SK in fulfilling the strategy.

The SK President said Ozamiz Federation plans to put signage in public places, especially in the Public Mall to remind the Ozamiznons about the health protocols and the importance of life.

Apart from this effort, Ochavillo emphasized that the SK Federation closely coordinated with the city government and barangays, so they could also extend help/assistance on its operations such as during the information drive and implementation of protocols to the barangays.

“Atong ipakita mismo nga ang mga kabatan-onan ang pag-asa ng bayan (Let us show that the youth are the hope of the nation). Let us follow the protocols of the government because health is very important and this is the only way that we can help and protect ourselves from COVID-19,” the SK chair said.

With the observance of the new normal, Ochavillo said the Ozamiz SK Federation continues to create innovations to cope with the ongoing crisis. (SMRN/PIA Misamis Occidental)
