TUBOD, Lanao del Norte –In line with the celebration of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte (PGLDN), in partnership with Inner Wheel Club Lanao del Norte, conducted a pitch and exhibition activity at the Provincial Capitol Building, Pigcarangan, this municipality.
This activity aims to showcase the colorful products and delicious cuisines in the province crafted, made, and produced by our locals through the Indigenique Awards Lanao del Norte.
Indigenique Awards is a competition organized by the Inner Wheel Club Lanao del Norte in search of a product that conveys indigenous culture, materials, craft, ideas, and knowledge in unique ways.
Nowadays, even during these challenging times, many Indigenous people and local consumer cooperatives continue to be defied with marginalization, poverty, financial instability, and other human rights violations. With this collective activity, the PGLDN and the Inner Wheel Club sought to enliven their spirit and help them widen their marketing style in today’s modern society.
The members of Inner Wheel Club Lanao del Norte emphasized the significance of the celebration which is to raise awareness on the preservation of indigenous culture.
They also stressed the importance of supporting small businesses in their own locality.
The Provincial Cooperative Office, headed by Minda Regis, facilitated the said event, which was participated by Six Final Contestants, namely (1) Pacita’s Bottled Bangus of Lala, (2) Mindanao Cooperative Trades and Industries with their Virgin Coconut Oil (MCTI), (3) Den’z Turban, (4) Lampakanay Weaver Associations, (5) Subanen Rattan Handicraft Product Organization, and (6) KWCC (Kolambugan Women’s Consumers Cooperative).
The Pitch and Exhibition was also featured and streamed via social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram, and the array of products will be displayed for one week at the main lobby of the Provincial Capitol.
The winner of the said event will be announced by the end of the week and will receive a business contract, digital marketing plan, and social media endorsement, all worth P200,000.
