CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–Dr. Jonathan T. Ortigoza, Health Care Delivery Management Division chief of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth)-10 shares they are offering packages for Coronavirus Disease (COVID)-19 patients.
In a press conference held here, March 12, Dr. Ortigoza said the corporation has a comprehensive set of packages that address the spectrum of care of the Persons Under Investigation (PUI), confirmed 2019-nCOV and cases wherein 2019-nCOV infection was eventually ruled out.
These include isolation package for PUI at P14,000, referral package (referral hospital COVID-19) at P4,000, and the existing all case rates such as Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome (P32,000); Pneumonia High Risk (P32,000); Sepsis (P32,000); Hemodialysis (P2,600 per session).
“As of March 11, 2020, we are formalizing and operationalizing benefits for COVID-19. Philhealth stands ready to deploy its resources where needed. We will maximize our resources to help control the spread of this disease in our country,” Ortigoza said.
There will be specific guidelines to be released on the new COVID benefit.
In case the hospitals refuse to admit PUIs, PhilHealth official said, “We have come out with a statement that hospitals should not turn away patients suspected of having COVID. Therefore, it follows that we monitor this and that hospitals found turning away [COVID] patients are going against their performance commitments with us and should be dealt with accordingly.”
“Hospitals are subject to sanctions should they refuse COVID patients,” he added. (JMOR/PIA10)
