MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA)–The Provincial Nutrition Action Office holds the 46th Nutrition Month Celebration with the Unveiling of the Provincial Nutrition Action Plan 2021 at Cultural Farmers Training Center.
“The important freedom to be won is the freedom from hunger. It is equally important to be a COVID-Free Misamis Occidental. Kung kita tanan magtibangay, ang tao nga atong giserbisyohan ang magdaugon. Ang among intensyon para ug alang lamang sa kaayohan sa katawhan (If we just help each other, The people we serve will become victorious. Our intention is only for the welfare of the people),” Governor Philip Tan said.
With the support of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the provincial government allocated a huge budget in support of the First 1000 Days program.
For her part, Vice-Governor Aurora Virginia Almonte encouraged all Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) and City/Municipal Nutrition Action officers to help each other and cited the importance of the First 1000 Days in MisOcc.
Meanwhile, Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Marichu G. Tijing said, “We cannot achieve environmental security and human development without addressing the basic issues of health and nutrition. We have to find all means to downward the malnutrition problems thus, we need to prioritize food security, health services, nutrition education, livelihood assistance, and among others from our nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive programs.” (SMRN/PIA Misamis Occidental)
