PNP-10 reaffirms quality public service thru ICP, social initiatives

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–In line with the Duterte administration’s goal of bolstering law and order capabilities and public trust among law enforcement officers, the Philippine National Police (PNP)-10 reaffirms its commitment to providing quality public service as it implements PNP Chief Guillermo Elazar’s Intensified Cleanliness Policy (ICP) to correct basic and often overlooked concerns within its offices.

“Kining intensified cleanliness policy nga ginahimo sa atong chief PNP karon simple lang kaayo. Mao na ang gitawag nga kahapsay sa atong lugar, hunahuna, ug sa tanan abot pa sa pag-alaga sa atong kapaligiran,” PNP-10 Chief PBGen. Rolando Anduyan said during the CORDS-X podcast with Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, August 14.

(This intensified cleanliness policy that our chief PNP is doing now is very simple, it is to encourage orderliness in our area, mindset, and our environment)

Through the ICP, Anduyan said they are now correcting flaws in their recruitment framework, ensuring cleanliness in all their PNP precincts, stations, and offices, and establishing stronger coordination among local government units (LGUs) in the region.

Further, as part of ensuring quality police officers in their ranks, he shared that are now enforcing and maintaining more punitive and reformatory accountability measures for police officers who go out of line.

With new reforms and high morale among its people due to the administration’s strong support and oversight in the peace and security sector, the PNP-10 Regional Head observed a 60 percent decrease in crime volume in the region from 2017 to 2020 since the start of Duterte’s term.

“Makaingon ko sa unang panahon nga dili pa presidente si President Rodrigo Duterte ug karon nga siya na ang preisdente, makita nato ang measurement nga atong gihimo nga baseline na almost more than 60 percent nga ninaog ang krimen. Hapit nako mag-retire pero karon pa gyud ko nakakita ug presidente nga grabe ka focused sa war against drugs and focused sa anti-criminality programs,” he shared.

(I would say that in comparison before President Rodrigo Duterte was the president and now that he is the president, we can observe that almost more than 60 percent of our crime volume has dropped. I am about to retire but this is the first time l’ve seen a president who is very focused on the war against drugs and focused on anti-criminality programs)

Despite the disruption of the coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 pandemic in their usual policing, Anduyan said they are still continuing their anti illegal-drug operations, boundary security checkpoints, and Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) programs in the region with the Armed Forces alongside their social and community support activities such as their “Pulis Ako, Titser Ako,” SCUBASURERO, BARANGAYanihan (Bayanihan sa Barangay), among others to ensure the general public that the PNP-10 is steadfast in their commitment towards building a better nation.

“Kami diri sa Region-10 nga kapulisan ang permanente mag-ingon nga kanang kalinaw, kahapsay sa mga lugar ug panahon, kana gyud ato nang maabot kung tanan magkasinabot, tanan magkahiusa, ug tanan magtinabangay,” he said.

(We, here at Region-10 police, will always say that peace and order can only be achieved if we understand each other, if everyone is united, and if everyone works together). (VPSB/PIA-10)
