Poor families under granular lockdown get DSWD’s cash aid

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–Aiding low-income families under granular lockdowns, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-10 provides the emergency cash subsidy through the Bayanihan 2 to Recover as One Act.

“Ang mga potential beneficiaries alang sa emergency subsidy program ilalom sa Bayanihan 2 nga gipangposte sa matag barangay sa Cagayan de Oro and northern Mindanao subject pa for validation and assessment sa social worker,” DSWD-1o Information Officer Oliver Inodeo said during the NorMin COVID-19 Response Task Force press conference, December 11.

(Potential beneficiaries for the emergency cash subsidy under the Bayanihan II posted in barangay halls of Cagayan de Oro and northern Mindanao are still  subject for validation and assessment of social workers)
Inodeo added that the cash subsidy is not a continuation of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) but an assistance to those low-income families who are placed under granular lockdowns to help them go through the ordeal of not being able to work or provide for their families.

To further response to the adverse effects of COVID-19, DSWD-10 also implements the Disaster Relief Operation Procedure (DROP) where the needs of communities are identified and addressed.

As of date, Inodeo said they are implementing 213 DROP sub-projects where they have completed 159 sub-projects and 54 are ongoing.

Eight towns are covered in the implementation and these include seven in Bukidnon and one in Lanao del Norte.

For the indigenous people (IPs), Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) projects are implemented in Claveria and Gingoog in Misamis Oriental, Tudela in Misamis Occidental, and Talakag, Kibawe, Kitaotao, Quezon and San Fernando in Bukidnon.

As of December 11, there are a total of 6,878 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in northern Mindanao, wherein 5,740 have recovered, 206 have expired, and 932 are recovering. (RTP/PIA10)
