ILIGAN CITY (PIA) — Public utility vehicles here affected by the enhanced community quarantine due to the threat of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) will also receive financial support from the government through the social amelioration package.
Director Aminoden D. Guro of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region 10 said registered drivers of public utility jeepneys, taxis, vans, and buses who have completed the Public Utility Drivers Academy Program of the LTFRB are eligible to receive the cash aid.
“The list that we submitted to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is based on the names of those who have completed the Drivers Academy seminar. Those who have not undergone the seminar can visit the LTFRB office in Iligan to submit their names and requirements,” he added.
Guro emphasized that the list is submitted to DSWD for cross-matching to avoid duplication of benefits.
The assistance to the drivers is part of the social amelioration package mandated under Republic Act 11469 or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act to cushion the impact of the enhanced community quarantine.
Guro said driver-beneficiaries of the program will receive financial aid of P6,000 each in April and in May.
To claim the cash aid, beneficiaries must present their original driver’s license and a photocopy of the license with two signatures to the nearest Landbank branch in their area.
If the license is confiscated, the driver can present a temporary operator’s permit, valid government ID, and photocopy of government-issued ID with two signatures.
For those who will send a representative, Guro said the requirements include a letter of authority signed by the beneficiary, the driver’s license of the beneficiary, a photocopy of the license with two signatures, and a valid government-issued ID of the representative. (APB/PIA ICIC)
