Romualdo: Tourists visiting Camiguin only pay 50% on RT-PCR

CAMIGUIN (PIA)–Reviving the tourism industry in the province, the Department of Tourism (DOT) pours in about P10 million to subsidize the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing cost of tourists who will visit Camiguin.

“Next week, matud pa sa assistance nila ihatag sa province, ang musulod nga turista, ang bayrunon ana 50%. Mag-MOA lang mi sa DOT and all the hospitals nga asa ka nga magpa-PCR pagsulod nato diri sa ato sa probinsya,” Gov. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo said during the opening ceremony of the Lanzones Festival 2021, October 24.

(Next week, with DOT’s assistance for the province, tourists who will come to Camiguin will only have to pay 50% on the RT-PCR test. We will sign the memorandum of agreement with DOT along with all the hospitals where the tourists will undergo the testing)

With the opening of tourism in the province, Romualdo shared Cebu Pacific flights are also made available starting November 9, 2021. For Cebu-Camiguin, Camiguin-Cebu, flights are scheduled, Tuesday and Saturday, 10:50 a.m.- 11:50 a.m.

For Manila-Camiguin, Camiguin-Manila, flights are available every Monday and Friday, 11:30 a.m.- 1:15 p.m. Philippine Airlines flight schedule will be finalized next week, Romualdo said.

Moving forward, the governor said once 60,000 of the people in Camiguin are already fully vaccinated, “dili nako mag-require og PCR. Mugawas kita taga-Camiguin bisag asa ka paingon basta fully vaccinated ka then mubalik ka diri sa Camiguin, wala na’y PCR, the same sa atong mga bisita. So ayaw na’g dugaya, pabakuna na, tabangi ang probinsya.”

(I will no longer require the RT-PCR test. Even if you go outside of Camiguin, wherever you may wish to go, as long as you are fully vaccinated, you can come back here in Camiguin with no RT-PCR test required. The same goes to our visitors. So, don’t waste time, get vaccinated and help the province). (RTP/PIA-10/Camiguin)
