SK in Clarin town holds comprehensive program on children protection

CLARIN, Misamis Occidental (PIA)–As part of its continuing efforts in fighting coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Barangay Pan-ay here has Implemented the first wave of the “Proteksyon Sukaranan sa Paglaum para sa Bata (Protection, Foundation of Hope for Children) Program.”

A total of 649 families of the eight “sitios” of the barangay benefited with the promotion of good nutrition among kids during quarantine period, aside from educating the kids about COVID-19 using IEC materials in Cebuano. 

“Kami mapasalamaton sa Gitib Inc, in partnership sa TDH-Germany sa ilang pag suporta sa mga kalihukan sa mga kabatan-onan diin sila ang ga-provide sa maong expenses sa among kalikuhan nga makatabang aning ginasubang nato nga crisis sa Covid-19 (We are thankful to Gitib, Inc. in partnership with TDH-Germany for the support by providing us the money to hold this program in the midst of the crisis wrought by COVID-19),” said Aljon Mariquit, the Sangguniang Kabataan Chairperson of Barangay Pan-ay.

Thirty-one Barangay Health Workers, Barangay Peace-keeping Action Team Volunteers, Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Officials and other youth volunteers were mobilized to support the said program.

Last month, the SK of Barangay Pan-ay distributed food packs from the funds received from Positive Youth Development Network as its counterpart for the barangay’s relief assistance.

House -to-house IEC campaign on hand washing among kids was also implemented by the SK.

The second wave of the program will be implemented this week, April 22-24. (SK Clarin/PIA10)
