MARAWI CITY (PIA)–To continuously provide a venue for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) to share their issues and concerns with various government agencies, the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) through its Information Management and Strategic Communication Support Group (IMSCSG) headed by the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and Philippine Information Agency (PIA) conducted the Kapamagusai (Dialogue) sa TFBM anew.
Through Kapamagusai, IDP leaders from Biyaya ng Pagbabago Transitory Shelter in Barangay Sagonsongan were able to air their sentiments and queries to TFBM member-agencies and the local government of Marawi.
Task Force Bangon Marawi Chairperson Sec. Eduardo del Rosario said the Task Force will continue to conduct dialogue with IDP leaders.
“We will continue the Kapamagusai for this engagement, we can see real issues on the ground and we would like to address these issues as soon as possible,” he said.
Mariam Hadji Malik of Area 4 raised their concerns about the septic tank.
Del Rosario responded that this issue will be immediately addressed by the National Housing Authority (NHA).
Meanwhile, Sittie Aisah Nasser of Area 3 shared that it‘s more than three years since they occupied the transitory shelters. She also said that they were informed that they can only stay there for five years.
However, Mayor Majul Gandamra assured her that they will not be expelled from the transitory shelters.
“Habang hindi pa natatapos ang mga bahay sa ground zero, tapos na expired ang term [While the houses at ground zero have not yet been completed, or the term has expired].. we can assure that you will not be evicted from that place,” he said.
NHA – Marawi Project Management Office head Engr. Clemente Dayot reiterated the commitment of their agency in rebuilding the lives of IDPs.
“Nandito lang ang NHA lagi tumutulong sa LGU ng Marawi at Task Force Bangon Marawi,” he said.
[NHA is always here to help the LGU of Marawi and Task Force Bangon Marawi.]
Furthermore, UN-Habitat Project Manager Warren Ubongen reminded the IDPs of their responsibility in rebuilding their city.
“Dapat bilang mamamayan ng Marawi you should involve yourself, magtanong. Responsibilidad ninyo na malaman at makiisa,” he said.
[As a citizen of Marawi, you should involve yourself, ask questions. It is your responsibility to know and to unite.]
Ubongen further emphasized that “infrastructure rehabilitation can be easily done but social infrastructure rehabilitation will take time”.
Issues on water, permanent shelters were also raised during the said dialogue. (LELA/PIA ICIC)
