MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)–Following the raised issues about the ongoing rehabilitation of the city, Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) Chairperson Eduardo Del Rosario emphasized during the Senate hearing of the Special Committee on Marawi Rehabilitation Tuesday, September 21, that the government’s restoration efforts remain transparent with the civil society organizations’ (CSOs’) presence and participation.
Del Rosario, who is also the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), said that in support of the TFBM’s initiative, 12 CSOs led by Padoman Paporo are supporting them and acting as third-party monitoring.
“Everytime na nagpupunta ako monthly sa Marawi City at nagkakaroon ng updates ang mga implementing agency, even contractors are asked to attend our meetings, ang civil society organizations na headed by Ma’am Paporo ay siya ang nagiging bastonera na nagsasabi sa mga implementing agencies na ito ang inyong pagkukulang, inaacknowledge namin ang inyong mga magagandang ginagawa pero ito naman ang inyong pagkukulang,” he said.
[Every time I go monthly to Marawi City and updates from the implementing agencies happen, even contractors are asked to attend our meeting, the civil society organizations headed by Ma’am Paporo who acts as the leader who says to the implementing agencies that these are your lapses, we acknowledge your wonderful actions but these are your shortcoming.]
Del Rosario conveyed his appreciation to the CSOs as he found their criticisms partnered with their sincerity beneficial to assist the government to successfully bring on the rehabilitation alongside the goal of maintaining transparency.
“This is to show transparency in the implementation of Task Force Bangon Marawi projects… Ako ay nagpapasalamat sa grupo ni Ma’am Paporo at ni Sir Toti sa kanilang tulong na ibinigay sa TFBM dahil ang mga civil society organizations na ito ay taga-Marawi sila. Sila ay gustong tumulong sa amin na mapabilis at magawa nang maayos ang rehabilitation project,” he said.

They want to help us to accelerate and carry out the rehabilitation project.]
Apart from the 12 CSOs, Del Rosario likewise extended the same gratitude to the Marawi Sultanate League headed by Sultan Nasser Sampaco for supporting them throughout their effort.
During his recent visit to the city, the TFBM chief announced that the rehabilitation is now on its 75% to 80% completion and more infrastructure projects will soon be inaugurated in his next visit. (CRG/PIA Lanao del Sur)
