UCCP-Magugpo welcomes new associate pastor

TAGUM CITY – The United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) Magugpo welcomes its new Associate Pastor following the installation of Reverend Hidita Castrodes Villas. Reverend Villas who was installed on July 12, 2020 took over administrative pastor Bishop Constante Doronio Claro.

Reverend Villas will join Reverend Melchor P. Garcia now forming the church’s Ministerial Team. Reverend Hidita Castrodes Villas previously served to two far-flung churches of UCCP-Taba and UCCP-Sabay, all located in Carmen, Davao del Norte. North Davao District Conference(NDDC) Conference Minister Reverend Angelico F. Cofreros was the officiating minister during Reverend Villas’ installation.

Reverend Villas is a graduate of Silliman University with a Bachelor of Arts in Management degree and at the same time a Bachelor of Arts in Theological Education degree major in Christian Education at the Silliman’s School of Divinity. She graduated on both courses on March 18, 1979.

As an added feather on her cap, Reverend Villas went to proceed for her post-graduate studies on Family Life and Child Development from the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City where she graduated on June 3, 1993. Her husband Florante Jesus Villas is also a Theology and Agriculture graduate of Silliman University. Instead of being ordained, Florante Villas decided to pursue a different path of ministry for farmers.

Presently, he works for a Quezon City-based Non Government Organization (NGO) that helps farmers improve their livelihood. His work has led him to visit various rural farming communities of Southeast Asian countries.

Fondly called as “Nanay” and “Tatay,” the Villas couple bore three children who are also products of Silliman University. The eldest Kahinam “Kayee” Villas is a graduate of Bachelor of Mass Communication. He is currently a supervisor of the cosmetics line Mary Kay Davao Beauty Center. The second daughter is Karisma Flor “Karrah” Villas-Flores who graduated Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics where she is the resident Dietitian of Marie France Beauty Center in Cebu City. Their youngest son Karlo Gerren Villas who is the resident lay-out and graphics designer of UCCP-Davao City’s weekly online newsletter- Chimebells, is a sophomore student of Silliman University. The Villas couple are grandparents to six grandsons and two granddaughters.
