CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–“Advancing Regional Development Amid the Pandemic,” goes the theme for the celebration of the Northern Mindanao Regional Development Council (RDC)-10 Week, September 20-24.
The major activities include the #UswagNorMin Photo Contest, daily RDC-10 Trivia for the week, #AskRDCNorMin special Talakayan sa PIA episode with RDC-X officials on September 22, 127th RDC-10 Full Council Meeting, and RDC Xcellence or Amihanan Awards on September 24.
Under the #UswagNorMin Photo Contest, images of strength and resilience amid COVID-19 were chosen. The winners are Jes Duman-ag (champion), Arnel Cabanao (1st runner-Up), and Ricky Jabien (2nd runner-Up).
Moreover, the first Amihanan Awards recognize outstanding and former RDC-10 members, as well as, agencies or instrumentalities with innovations and projects that contribute to regional development while commended at the national level.
Conferred as Outstanding RDC-10 members are the regional offices of the Department of Agriculture, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Education, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Trade and Industry, and the Philippine Ports Authority-Misamis Oriental/Cagayan de Oro.
Also, among those recognized as development partners are EnP Candido B. Balaba, Jr., who designed the Innovative Platform for Programs/Projects/Activities’ (PPAs) Location Assessment, Monitoring, and Budgeting for Development Planning and Governance or IPA-LAMDAG System, the Philippine Information Agency-10, Department of Public Works and Highways-10, and the state universities and colleges in the region.
Special citations are also given to active RDC-10 private sector representatives serving the council and its committees for more than two decades.
Proclamation No. 1164 dated 24 February 1998 declares the fourth week of September every year as Regional Development Council’s Week to commemorate the creation of the RDCs as the key structure for regional development and decentralized planning. (NEDA-10/PIA-10)
