LGU Ozamiz to build 50-bed COVID-19 isolation facility

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)–To further boost the capacity for isolation facilities in the city, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Misamis Occidental is set to build a 50-bed capacity isolation center for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Ozamiz this month.

The city government is preparing for the possible increase of COVID-19 cases in Ozamiz by establishing a separate quarantine facility.

Mayor Sancho Fernando Oaminal announced that the Asenso Ozamiz administration will build a new isolation facility for Ozamiznons.

“The target date of completion will be in three-months,” Oaminal said.

He added that the rooms will have enough space to accommodate the returning residents in the city. Once completed, the facility will serve as the city’s main isolation center.

The mayor said the project is a huge boost to the city’s efforts to provide adequate isolation and treatment facilities for COVID-19 patients.

Ozamiz City has a total of 275 total COVID-19 confirmed cases. Of this number, 15 are active cases, 243 have recovered, and 17 have expired as of March 13.

The project is supported by Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go and Rep. Henry Oaminal with the DPWH Second Engineering District. (SMRN/PIA Misamis Occidental)
