Marawi IDPs receive house plan, design assistance

MARAWI CITY (PIA) — Thirty-six architectural and engineering design/plan are already awarded by the National Housing Authority (NHA) to homeowners of the most affected area (MAA) of this city.

Another 16 house plans and designs are set to be distributed to the homeowners facing the difficulty to claim them due to the threats of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Approximately 4,000 homeowners have applied for the said assistance but only 177 are qualified and have complied with the requirements.

Agakhan Palala, a homeowner from Lilod Madaya was delighted with the assistance offered by NHA. He shared that the design he dreamed of was carried out accurately by the engineers and architects from the agency.

“Masaya ako dahil may architectural at engineering design na ako para sa bahay ko. Binigay ito ng NHA nang libre kaya nagpapaslaamt ako sa kanila. Okay na okay talaga ang administrasyon ni Pres. Duterte dahil naakkatulong sila,” said Palala.

[I’m happy because I have the architectural and engineering design for my house. The NHA gave it away for free so I’m grateful to them. President Duterte’s administration is really good because they helped us.]

Aside from the architectural design, NHA also provided the engineering plans which include the electrical and plumbing plans with its estimated costs.

“Yun kasi yung pinakamahal, yung paggawa ng plano [That’s because it’s the most expensive, the planning]. From there, nagbigay kami ng tulong [we assisted], free everything, from electrical, plumbing, civil engineering at architecture,” said NHA-Marawi Project Management Office deputy head Engr. Ikmat Bantuas. Before the COVID-19 crisis happened, 482 homeowners already started the repair or construction of houses in MAA.

According to the Marawi City Office of the Building Official (OBO), there are about 500 applications for building permits that are pending due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Task Force Bangon Marawi and the city government of Marawi are in talks for the resumption of the Kathagombalay or the processing of applications for acquisition of building permits of houses in MAA.
