RDC-X underscores health, gov’t program concerns via video conference

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Mar. 20 (PIA)—Highlighting the government’s efforts and strategies in curbing the coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 pandemic as well as the progress of programs and projects in hitting the Sustainable Development Goals (SGs) by 2030, the Regional Development Council (RDC)-X meets via video conference, March 20.


Attended by the region’s representatives, local government leaders, regional agency heads, and private sector representatives, the virtual RDC-X Full Council meeting is the first conducted of its kind in the country.
Among the pressing issues of the region tackled during the conference include the preventive measures undertaken by the  Department of Health (DOH)-10 on COVID-19. 


Regional Director Adriano Suba-an said the number of persons under monitoring (PUMs) and persons under investigation (PUIs) are handled by trained health professionals of each province  but they work closely with the  local leaders to establish a region-wide set of protocols to curb the current pandemic.


As for ensuring that the SDGs are met, the body agrees to create a Special Regional Committee on the SDG that will monitor the progress of programs and projects of the government.


The projects endorsed include the establishment of the Philippine Research Center for Bamboo under the Niche Center in the Region for Research and Development, the installation of a Regional TV Station that will be housed here  and the construction of the Government Strategic Communications Center in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.


Budgets for Fiscal Year 2021 of the regional line agencies and state universities and colleges were also endorsed.
Also during in the conference, Dr. Modesto Babaylan was installed as the new co-chairperson of the RDC-X. (RDCX/PIA10)
